The Clangers were devised and created by the brilliant minds of Peter Firmin and the late Oliver Postgate, who also created Noggin The Nog, Bagpuss, Ivor the Engine and Pogle's Wood. Clangers are imaginary creatures from another planet somewhere in the vast starry stretches of outer space. The Clanger family communicate with their now famous high-pitched Clanger whistle and share their planet with a variety of wondrous creatures. The programmes were 'ground breaking' when first shown on BBC television in 1969, the year the first man landed on the moon.
